Weeks 10 and 11

Life in a Tropical Rainforest

We finished the Tropical Rainforest unit this week. The children loved learning about all the colorful animals, especially the birds, living in the rainforest.

Language Arts:

Miriam: Miriam began reading Hector Springs Loose, her first read aloud chapter book! She's finished through chapter 5; all of us are enjoying listening to her read this fun little book aloud. She is working on nouns in Growing with Grammar. She completed Step 1 in All About Spelling 2 and lessons 3 and 4 in Explode the Code book 5.

Rebekah: Rebekah has completed all the letters in Explode the Code book C. Next week she will take the post test and then move on to Book 1!! We've taken the last 2 weeks to play the Sound Hound card game and read words written on the white board.

Math:

Miriam: Worked on subtraction in her Singapore book.

Rebekah: Started her new BJU Kindergarten Math workbook; she completed a section about shapes.

Bible:

We completed lessons 5 and 6 in our Explorer's Bible study learning about the birth of John the Baptist and about Mary and Joseph traveling to Bethlehem.

Miriam, my Dad and I went on a field trip to see a life size replica of the tabernacle that the Jews traveled with during their time of wandering in the desert with Moses. We all learned a lot about the tabernacle, worship and the high priest.
