Science
We've been learning all about maps, the compass, and molecules in the past few weeks. The kids loved using their magnifying glasses to see the tiny particles in the ingredients in our kitchen.Spanish
We finished Unit 1 of Elementary Spanish. The girls know the names of their family members, where they live and the rooms of a house. Miriam scored perfect on her end of until test. Bekah only missed 4 our of 15 questions.Language Arts
Miriam:Miriam has fallen in love with American Girl books. She read all 6 of the Kit books and can't wait to get back to the library to pick out her next American Girl adventure. She learned how to write descriptive and narrative paragraphs. She really enjoyed writing about our recent vacation to the lake. She is almost finished with the noun section in her Rod and Staff Grammar Book. She learned about similies in her Bob Jones Reading book this week.
Rebekah:
Rebekah has moved on to reading 4 letter words! She learned how to read 'ck' last week. She continues to move forward in Explode the Code; already halfway through lesson 7. I guess buying her the 1/2 book at the homeschool convention this summer was overkill afterall. So glad she's moving past her initial walls in reading! She'll be finishing her Kindergarten Handwriting Without Tears book in the next few weeks.
Math
Miriam is learning how to rename when adding 3 digit numbers!Rebekah has learned how to count pennies and is working on simple addition as well.
Here is a photo of Peyton joining us for school time. Thank goodness for nontoxix washable markers! I don't believe I've ever had a child so interested in eating craft supplies before. She generally ruins at least one marker everyday during school time.
