Latta Plantation

Yesterday my Dad and I took the children to visit the Latta Plantation. It was peak leaf color weekend in the area and the weather was beautiful! We learned all about life on the plantation during the 1800s and about the Latta family. We also met a gunsmith who showed us how to fire a flint lock riffle, saw farm animals, and panned for gold. (Gold panning pictures were taken by Dad)

It was a great way to start our November detour study of American history and Thanksgiving! Next week we'll be doing very little "book" school - instead we'll be visiting Charleston, SC. Gotta love homeschooling!
