Week 19
Reading
Miriam finished the long "e" section in The Ordinary Parent's Guide to Teaching Reading and began the long "i" section this week; she's finished to lesson 96. She also finished lesson 9 in Explode the Code 3. The highlight of the week was getting a box of readers from Amazon in the mail. Miriam read Drip Drop and Amelia Bedelia and the Baby this week; she wanted to read them all in one day, but we're trying to go slowly and save some of the books for the coming weeks!
Math
Miriam finished through lesson 48 in Rightstart Math A. She began adding numbers such as 40 +5 and 40+30 (up to a sum of 100) this week! She has also been working on counting by 10s all the way to 100. In Singapore math Miriam did through exercise 3 in the subtraction unit. We also continued playing lots of games of "To the Dump" with the number cards.
Bible
Miriam continued working on last weeks memory verse this week- Psalm 71:8 because she didn't quite have it down by the end of last week though we moved on to Proverbs 16:9 in her handwriting program.
During Bible reading we read about Jesus' life and many of the miracles he did.

Preschool
Rebekah has jumped into her school time with both feet. She is loving taking her turn sitting with me to do The Ordinary Parent's Guide to Teaching Reading- this week she is consistently getting most of the letters she was struggling with last week, i is the only one she misses.
This child thrives by routine- so she loves having her set time and place to do her 3 workbooks everyday and she makes sure that we do them in the correct order and get them all done everyday! She's doing 2 to 4 pages in Get Ready for the Code each day. This week she completed the letter b and began the letter m. She also works on Singapore Earlybird Kindergarten A each day (which is really the preK level). This week she completed the "match and sort" section and began the "numbers to 5" section. She also did one pre-handwriting page each day. Many days she also chose to work in her cutting and pasting books as well.
