Weekly Report 2/9- 2/13

Week 20

Sorry for yet another week without pictures! We've had a very busy week and I didn't take the time to take any pictures.

Reading

Miriam completed through lesson 99 in The Ordinary Parent's Guide to Teaching Reading; she's learning about words with the long "o" sound this week. She also completed lesson 10 in Explode the Code 3. She read aloud the first two stories from the book The Fire Cat and also read The Cat in the Hat.

I'm reading Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle to Miriam and Rebekah for our read aloud. They are loving it!

Math

Miriam finished through lesson 53 in RightStart A. She is doing a great job counting by twos and tens all the way through 100! Her addition skills are also getting to be more fluent- she uses the abacus less and less as she is beginning to memorize several of the basic math facts as we work.

Bible

This week we read more about Jesus' and the disciples and many of his miracles including raising Lazarus from the dead. The girls memorized Proverbs 12:22.

Preschool with Rebekah

Rebekah completed the letter "m" in Get Ready for the Code this week. Her handwriting is improving and she was able to write some of the letters on her own by the end of the week.

She finished to lesson 2.9 in Singapore's Early bird Kindergarten Mathematics A.
She also did lessons 1 and 2 in Rightstart A this week. She loves, loves to do "fun math" and quickly reminded me that I forgot her turn one day this week- she also lets me know if she thinks her turn took less time than Miriam's and demands to do more math. Math seems to be a strong point for her- she seems to really "get" it and moves quickly through the material. I'm not sure if it is due to her watching Miriam's lessons since the beginning of the year, or playing with all the math manipulatives this year, or if this will be her area of "natural ability."
