Weeks 23 and 24
It's been a crazy two weeks in our home. I fought a 3 day recurring migraine, Miriam was sick for a day and we still managed to spend a day at the park and another day at Discovery Place museum. And between it all we got a little school done too!Life in the Polar Regions
We're still loving this section of our study. We finished reading Mr. Popper's Penguins and enjoyed learning about many more Arctic animals. I placed the last Amazon order for our Animals and Their Worlds study this week! I've decided to skip the section on the swamp and the book Coyote Autumn. We're going to skip to the Ocean section of the study. We're still planning to read both Animal Behavior series books though since they are our favorite; it won't be difficult to read extra each day since we all love the series so much. That will leave us with about 6 more weeks of academics after finishing Winterproimse, but I think it will work out better than dragging AW along. By then the weather will be getting nice and we'll replace Animals and Their Worlds with interest lead science, time outdoors and read alouds.
Language Arts
Miriam finished reading the Cobble Street Cousins series. Then she began Animal Adventures from the Little House Chapter book series. After less than one chapter we put that book away for another year; she couldn't handle the high suspense of the book. Now she is reading The Lighthouse. She completed lessons 9 and 10 in Explode the Code and step 14 in All About Spelling. She is still working on adjectives in Growing with Grammar.
Rebekah finished both preschool workbooks this week. She loves practicing her writing for Handwriting Without Tears. She also enjoyed working on All About Spelling this week. She began working on the first steps in book 1 learning to segment sounds in words.
Math
Miriam finished through lesson 71 in Rightstart math and also worked on fractions in BJU. She loved playing with the geoboard this week and learning about symmetry. She struggled a bit with adding 8s and 9s, so we spent extra time working on those concepts this week.
Rebekah worked on numbers to 23 in BJU kindergarten.

That's a really good drawing, I can see an improvement from one of your earlier posts already.
