Weekly Report 10/27-10/31

Week 9
What a crazy week we have had! We usually stick very close to home all week except for our day out on Tuesday for homeschool co-op, dance, and grocery shopping. All the children go to homeschool co-op most weeks, then we bring the little two home to nap with Daddy while Miriam and I go to dance and run our errands. This week Rob had overtime so I had all the children all day on Tuesday, which means no nap for the little ones-they were well behaved but it still makes for a very long day! Then on Wednesday we met Mom and Dad at church for dinner and a special Wednesday night program for preschoolers. That was a huge hit and the children are now asking to go every Wednesday night. Then on Thursday we went to the zoo with our friends from church and stayed there all day! (there are pictures of that trip on my "main" blog landclan.blogspot.com) Today is Halloween and we'll be going to a Fall Festival this evening. And tomorrow we're going to a pumpkin patch with friends! WHEW! We've had so much fun, but wow I'm tired and very behind on all things homemaking. We still got quite a lot done for school this week on top of all our running around.
Reading
Miriam finished lesson 8 and most of lesson 9 in Explode the Code. We did lessons 57 and 58 in The Ordinary Parents Guide to Teaching Reading. Miriam also read her first "real" book today! She was able to read all of Go, Dog, Go with minimal help. She needed help on words we have not yet studied such as numbers, a few of the colors, and where, why, etc. Amazing, my little girl is really reading!
Math
Miriam finished lessons 8 and 9 this week in Singapore Earlybird 2B. We also started lesson 10 and she has quickly picked up how to read the clock at whole hours.
The children are still loving "fun math" (their name for RightStart Math). Every day they say is it time for "fun math" yet?? They even often ask to do more in our free time before bed at night! We completed lessons 13 through 16 this week!
Bible
This week we finished talking about the Israelites travelling to the promised land with the story of Jericho. Miriam is adding verse 5 to Psalm 23 for her memory work.

Sounds like a very, very busy but fun week! All of the extra curricular stuff can wear a mom out-but it is fun. :)
Congratulations to Miriam for reading her first real book. Way to go!!!
